Deegies Carma Opening at the Legends in KS
Deegies Carma is a brand new store and fresh concept to the midwest. I was pleased to be asked to model for the company in their grand opening fashion show in March08. It was not a traditional fashion show. I quickly realized that as with the store concept the show too was not just about clothing but more so an experience.
They had a DJ from 95.7 The Vibe spinnin records with music videos and us models dancing in the windows, mingling with customers and we even had our hair and makeup changes in as part of the show done by the Deegies own glam squad . I had a blast but I did kinda miss the comfort of a runway. The show was designed to exhibit the full range of not only clothing, but the range of services they provide in the store's salon and the cafe, my personal favorite feature. I'm a girl that likes to eat while I shop, probablly my two greatest pleasure in life.
At first glance it doesn't look like the cafe has much but they really have a way better menu than some restraunts not to mention internet access. Anyways..We came out in pajamas, swimsuits, casual clothes, club gear, party dresses, jewelry, shoes, slippers, hats, sunglasses, purses, and beach bags just in case we somehow find our way to a beach. They got you covered from the A.M. through the day and and on into night.
Finally a store that carries funky, hip, fashionable big name designers like Ed Hardy and Betsy Johnson as well as lesser known names on the rise from all over the world.
They havn't just limited themselves to cutesy commercial watered down fashions that we are so inindated with being isolated from cities where fashion seems to florish. I know that K.C. does have some very talented local designers that have not yet or may not ever get the chance to achieve main stream success so we need more stores like this to spark that passion and breathe some life into fashion industry in the midwest.
When I was amongst the crowd I spotted a lady wearing a top that I really liked. I approached her to see where she got it only because thats the way it be here sometimes, really gotta hunt fashion. Ater complimenting her on the top I asked where she got it and to my delight she told me she was a buyer for the company that is Deegies Carma and she had actually made the top herself.
